Diffraction
Diffraction is the change of direction as a wave either passes through an opening or by a barrier.
Factors that Impact the Amount of Diffraction:
- Size of the opening -the smaller the opening the more diffraction
- Size of wave length -the bigger the wave length the more diffraction
Voices are able to diffract through doorways to be heard on the other side of the wall. The lower the voice, the larger the wavelength and the more diffraction that occurs. Therefore deep voices can be heard easily.
